Students and friends are welcome to the department of Political Science and Public Administration, one of the leading departments in Babcock University. It is a great privilege for a student to be able to secure a place in this department, given the fact that applications for admissions usually number in their hundreds. It is hoped, therefore that the student will make the best of this opportunity.

Also, opportunities have long abounded for political science, international law and diplomacy and public administration graduates to be employed within the executive hierarchies of private business corporations and companies, including multi-national companies and international organisations. Of those our graduates who secure jobs either in corporate, business or any of the research institutes requiring their skills, a sizeable number may need to proceed beyond their first degree to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Political Science, Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Public Administration (MPA) or Master of Public Management (MPM) or Master of Science (Public Administration), as well as Masters in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD) as pre – requisite to the higher executive positions in business or government, as well as to doctorate degree programmes. The department encourages its students to interact not only with its staff but with one another. The platforms for such interactions have been the Political Science Students Association (POLSSA), the International Law and Diplomacy Students’ Association (ILDSA), and the Public Administration Students Association (PASA). About us

The department has discovered a big gap yet to be filled in the training of professionals with manifest high moral credentials in addition to career excellence. The Nigerian and African political and administrative landscape stands to gain from the training of people who are prepared to excel by providing leadership by example, guided by the fear of God. Career opportunities open to trained political scientists, diplomats and administrators are many and include careers in diplomatic services; employment in the civil service at any of the three tiers of government- Federal, state or local; and as university lecturers and teachers in the secondary schools, polytechnics and colleges of education.
