This Privacy policy between Babcock University (here in after referred to as BU) and you, constitutes our commitment to your privacy on our administrative records, websites, social media platforms and premises.

1.0 Your Privacy Rights

 This document explains how we respect your privacy when we collect, use, store, share and protect your personal information. It applies to the BU websites and all database applications, services, tools and physical contact with us. You must keep your username, identification code, password or any other security information secret. Do not share it with anyone else. We can disable any user identification code or password at any time. We will do this if we think you have not followed any of these Conditions. If you think someone else knows your security details, you must tell us right away at email.admin@babcock.edu.ng.  

2.0 Consent

 This Privacy Policy applies to your use of BU services, whether you access them through our websites, digital platforms or visit our offices for any reason (collectively “BU services”). You agree to this Privacy Policy by giving your consent when you use BU services. This Policy does not override any separate agreements you may have with us. We may change this Privacy Policy at any time by posting an updated version on our websites or displaying a notice at our office facilities. The updated version will take effect 7-days after it is posted or displayed. 

3.0 Your Personal Information

 When you use BU Services, we collect information sent to us by your computer, mobile phone or other electronic access device. The automatically collected information includes but not limited todata about the pages you access, computer IP address, device ID or unique identifier, device type, geo-location information, computer and connection information, mobile network information, statistics on page views, traffic to and from the sites, referral URL, ad data, standard web log data, still and moving images. We may also collect other information including but not limited toinformation on web form, survey responses, account update information, email, phone number, organization you represent, official position, correspondence with BU support services and telecommunication with BU. We may also collect information about your transactions, enquiries and your activities on our platform or premises. We may also use information provided by third parties like social media sites.. 

4.0 What we do with your personal information

 BU is a faith based educational institution that integrates the totality of the Christian faith side by side with the academic programme. We make positive impact by nurturing our students such that their lives reflect Christ. As part of our mandate, we collect and process your personal information for the following purposes: 

- To provide you with BU services and support, such as admissions, Health care, employment; 

- To process your applications and send notices about your transactions to relevant parties; 

- To verify your identity and ensure your eligibility for our services; 

 - To collect fees for services rendered; - To manage risk, or to detect, prevent, and/or remediate fraud or other potentially prohibited or illegal activities; 

- To track information breach and remediate such identified breaches; 

- To manage and protect our information technology and physical infrastructure;

 - To contact you at any time through your provided telephone number, email address or other contact details. We value your privacy and we take your personal information seriously in compliance with the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and other applicable laws. We will only use your information for the reasons stated above and we will not disclose it to any third party without your permission or as mandated by law. 

6.0 How we protect your personal information

 We are committed to protecting your personal information and respecting your privacy. We collect and process your personal information on our computers in Nigeria, where we operate in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (NDPR) and other applicable laws. If we need to transfer your data to another country, we will only do so if that country has an adequate level of data protection as determined by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or if you have given us your explicit consent. We will inform you of the purpose and legal basis of such transfer before we proceed. We use various security measures to safeguard your information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure or alteration. These include firewalls, data encryption, physical access controls and information access authorization controls. 

7.0 How We Share your information within BU and other users

 Your personal information is stored and processed on our computers in Nigeria. If we need to transfer your data to another country, we will only do so if that country has an adequate data protection law. Otherwise, we will ask for your consent before sending your data to a country that does not have an adequate data protection law. We use physical, technical, and administrative measures to protect your information. We may occasionally send you relevant information such as news items, enforcement notices, statutory notices and essential information to help us carry out our mandate. We may also share your personal information with other parties in accordance with national or international laws; crime prevention and risk management agencies and service providers. 

8.0 Security

 We take your information security seriously. We use strong technical and operational measures to prevent unauthorized access to your information. We have implemented digital and physical security measures to limit or eliminate possibilities of data privacy breach incidents. 

9.0 Data Confidentiality Rights

 We treat your information as confidential and do not disclose it to any third party unless required by law or regulation. You can access and copy any information we have about you, as long as you follow the Freedom of Information Act and other relevant laws. BU is committed to protecting the information you entrust to us, but you also have a role in maintaining confidentiality. This includes, 

 but is not limited to, using appropriate security measures such as not sharing passwords and login details, following physical security protocols on our premises, and only dealing with authorized officers of the Agency. 

10.0 Links to Other Websites and Premises

 Some payment methods may involve links to external websites or entities that are not affiliated with us. BU does not endorse or control these websites outside its domain. We do not check or approve the content of other party’s websites that are linked from our website or media platforms. We are not liable for the opinions or materials on such websites, and they do not reflect our views or policies. Please note that we are not accountable for the privacy practices or content of these sites. We advise our users to be careful when they leave our site and to read the privacy policies of these sites. You should assess the security and reliability of any other site linked to our site or accessed through our site yourself, before sharing any personal information with them. BU will not be responsible for any loss or damage caused by your disclosure of personal information to third parties. 

11.0 Governing Law

 This Privacy Policy is made pursuant to the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (2019) and other relevant Nigerian laws, regulations or international conventions applicable to Nigeria. Where any provision of this Policy is deemed inconsistent with a law, regulation or convention, such provision shall be subject to the overriding law, regulation or convention.
