          BABCOCK ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK 2023: FOSTERING INNOVATION AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Introduction:

The Babcock Entrepreneurship Week (BEW) was recently concluded, and it was a great success. The week-long event was aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation among students of Babcock University. The event harnessed various entrepreneurial activities on campus, providing a platform for student entrepreneurs to showcase their products and ideas. Sales Exhibition:

On days 1-4 of the week, Babcock student entrepreneurs had the opportunity to exhibit their products in form of a sales exhibition. This provided an opportunity for them to showcase their products to the Babcock community and the general public. The sales exhibition was a great success as students displayed various innovative and creative products.

ENACTUS Nigeria Country Director's Visit:

On day 3 of the BEW, the ENACTUS Nigeria country Director (Mr Micheal Ajayi) came to sensitize the students on entrepreneurship and why they should get involved as students to promote startup cultures right from school. The director's visit was highly beneficial to the students, as they were exposed to the importance of entrepreneurship and the role they can play in promoting it. The visit also provided an opportunity for students to interact with an experienced entrepreneur and gain insight into the world of entrepreneurship.

Industry Experts' Visit:

On day 4 of the BEW, industry experts came around to share their entrepreneurial journey with the students. They equally served as judges for the 15 startups who qualified for the grand finale of the innovation challenge that had been ongoing since January. The experts shared their experiences and provided valuable advice to the students. The innovation challenge provided an opportunity for students to showcase their innovative ideas and compete for a chance to win prizes. The university invested seed funds into the startups that emanated from this event.

Impact and Future Plans

The event attracted attention not only from students but also from successful entrepreneurs and investors. Due to its positive outcomes, the organizers have expressed their intent to make the Babcock Entrepreneurship Week an annual tradition, promising continued support for innovative ideas and business development.
