Last month, the curtain closed on one of the most exhilarating moments of the Babcock Entrepreneurship Week (BEW): the Grand Finale of the Babcock Innovation Challenge (BIC). Each year, this event stands out as a highlight—and the 2025 edition was truly remarkable.
From the first round to the final pitch, weeks of rigorous competition and creative energy culminated in a showcase of brilliance. Student-led startups, nurtured by passion and sharpened by weeks of mentorship, took center stage, turning ideas into impactful solutions before an engaged audience.
The atmosphere was electric, the stakes high, and the talent on display—extraordinary. Our Vice Chancellor honored the occasion with his presence and delivered a memorable charge to the finalists: “Never relent on your innovation journey—whether or not you emerge a winner today.” His words resonated deeply with every aspiring founder in the room.
We extend heartfelt appreciation to our panel of dedicated judges—Uche Ukonu Jnr., Temitope A., and Omowunmi Omoseyindemi—who journeyed with us from start to finish. Their expertise, mentorship, and commitment to grooming the next generation of entrepreneurs were invaluable.
To every student team that participated in this year’s BIC cohort, we salute your resilience, teamwork, and unwavering belief in your ideas. Beyond the trophies and recognition, you’ve gained experiences that will serve as a foundation for your entrepreneurial journeys ahead.
A special congratulations to our top three teams:
- Team Careely, led by Hope Ifeanyi – From runner-up in a previous hackathon to BIC Champions, your growth is truly inspiring.
- Team Campus Pal – 1st Runner-Up
- Team Findora – 2nd Runner-Up
Your pitches captivated the audience and reminded us of the transformative power of innovation—especially when young minds are empowered by the right ecosystem.
We also applaud the Babcock University Students’ Entrepreneurship Club (BUSEC), under the capable leadership of Uchenna Aguocha-Ohiagbaji. From planning the event to sourcing judges and executing the week-long BEW activities, your professionalism and excellence were nothing short of commendable.
A warm thank-you to our friends from Lead City University who joined us for the finale—your presence enriched the event, and we’re grateful for your support.
At the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre (BEDC), our mission goes beyond competitions. We are here to spark ideas, nurture innovators, and watch dreams take flight. The success of the BIC is a testament to what can happen when talent, vision, and institutional support come together.
Here’s to the future—bold, bright, and built one innovation at a time.
