Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre, in collaboration with Misrah and Babcock Studentpreneurs, is thrilled to present the second edition of Entrepreneurship Week at Babcock University. This week-long event, spanning from Tuesday, April 2nd to Friday, April 5th, 2024, aims to foster entrepreneurial spirit, knowledge, and connections among the student body. Through a carefully curated program, we intend to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical entrepreneurship, offering students a unique platform to engage with industry experts, explore legal and policy landscapes, and showcase their entrepreneurial ideas.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the Entrepreneurship Week are to:

  • Foster an understanding of entrepreneurship in the real world through interactions with established entrepreneurs.
  • Illuminate the legal and policy landscapes affecting entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
  • Engage students in the governmental process relevant to entrepreneurship.
  • Provide a stage for aspiring entrepreneurs to present their ideas.
  • Initiate a long-term engagement strategy through mentorship, connecting students with business professionals within the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre ecosystem.

Schedule:

Day 1: Meet Businesspeople in Person (Panel / Social Event) An opportunity for students to interact with business professionals, gaining insights into entrepreneurship from those who have successfully navigated the journey.

Day 2: Legal and Policy Aspects (Workshop) A session focused on the laws, policies, and their implications on establishing and running a business in Nigeria, led by experts in law and public policy.

Day 3: Government Process (Workshop / Panel / Talk) An exploration of the governmental processes affecting entrepreneurs, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the bureaucratic landscape.

Day 4: Pitch Competition and Presentation of Awards (Competition) An exciting day where studentpreneurs exhibit their products and ideas in a pitch competition. Winners will be announced and awarded. Additionally, post-event, the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre proposes a mentorship program to foster long-term engagement. Fifteen students will be selected based on certain criteria to lead this initiative, offering them a unique opportunity to connect with and learn from professionals within the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre ecosystem. This mentorship program is envisioned to be a cornerstone for nurturing future entrepreneurs.

The Entrepreneurship Week at Babcock University represents a pivotal step towards empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and connections necessary to thrive in the entrepreneurial world. The Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre, with the support of Misrah and Babcock Studentpreneurs, is committed to making this event a transformative experience for all participants, paving the way for future collaboration and impact. We look forward to the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre's support and cooperation in bringing this vision to life.
