The academic success of the Babcock Teaching Hospital has therefore saved Nigeria the N100 billion it loses annually to medical tourism.

Speaking with journalists during a media parley held on the institution’s campus, Ogun State, its President/Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo said: ”Today, our Cardiac Centre has performed over 300 open-heart surgeries at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital.

”BUTH has also performed several total knee cap replacement and spinal surgeries, thereby assisting the nation in saving millions of hard-earned foreign exchange.

”Available records reveal that Nigeria loses over N100 billion annually to medical tourism.

”Babcock is maintaining its premier lead in Medicine and Nursing and as top ten in Computing Engineering and in Social Work.”

According to Professor Tayo, for over twenty years, Babcock has significantly contributed to national socio-political, industrial and cultural development through innovations and inventions in Science, Medicine and Technology.

He said that informed why he took it as a pinch of salt when recently the social media news attempted to besmirch the University.
