The three week Capacity Building Workshop organized by the Office of Research, Innovation and International Collaboration (RIIC), Babcock University, has come to a successful close, strengthening participants' competencies in scholarly publishing, research ethics, and grantsmanship.

The workshop covered three key areas over the three weeks:

Week 1, Journal Sourcing, Publication, and Referencing, focused on understanding the scholarly publishing landscape, selecting suitable indexed journals, avoiding predatory publications, navigating the manuscript submission and peer review process, and using research and reference management tools such as Mendeley.

Week 2, Ethics and Responsible Research, emphasized the principles and application of research ethics, including ethical review processes, informed consent, data protection, publication ethics, and the responsible conduct of research.

Week 3, Grantsmanship and Proposal Development, equipped participants with the skills to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive grant proposals, construct realistic budgets, prepare strong investigator profiles, and respond effectively to reviewers' expectations.

The workshop concluded with an inspiring address from the President and Vice Chancellor, who commended RIIC for organizing and successfully implementing a highly impactful capacity building programme. He expressed appreciation to all participants for their commitment throughout the three weeks and extended special recognition to Prof. Sanda Maiduc, the guest facilitator from Romania, for her valuable expertise during the grantsmanship sessions.

He encouraged participants to remain focused and intentional in their pursuit of research excellence as the University enters a new academic year, and to translate the knowledge gained into tangible research outputs, high quality publications, ethical research practices, and successful grant applications.

The Associate Vice President for Research, Innovation and International Collaboration also expressed profound appreciation to the University administration for its unwavering support throughout the workshop.

RIIC extends its sincere appreciation to all facilitators and panelists whose dedication and expertise made this programme both impactful and memorable.
