Babcock University has made a landmark progress in the current Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027 by advancing from the 1501+ band to 1201–1400 globally, rising to joint 8th in Nigeria and joint 39th in Africa as its Research Quality score increases by 13.1 points. This represents the highest single climb by any Nigerian university in this edition.
The improvement also places Babcock at joint 8th among Nigerian universities, up from joint 11th, and joint 39th in Africa, compared with joint 76th in the previous edition.
A key highlight is the university’s Research Quality score, which rose from 41.8 to 54.9, an increase of 13.1 points. Its Research Environment score improved from 9.9 to 11.6, while International Outlook increased from 33.5 to 36.2.
These results signal progress in areas central to Babcock’s ambition to strengthen its research profile, enhance academic quality and expand its global relevance.
