About the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Rank
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) is a title conferred on legal practitioners in Nigeria who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession. The rank is equivalent to the Queen's Counsel (QC) or King's Counsel (KC) in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth jurisdictions.To qualify for the SAN rank, a legal practitioner must demonstrate: Outstanding professional competence and integrity, significant contributions to the development of Nigerian law, a minimum of ten years of active legal practice, peer recognition and exemplary character. The conferment is made by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee (LPPC) under the authority of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
