Five Babcock University medical students have earned a place among the best at the Professor Oludare Intercollegiate Quiz Competition, finishing third in a contest that tested medical knowledge, critical thinking and teamwork.

Held on October 27, 2026, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Lagos, the competition brought together medical students from different institutions to demonstrate their understanding and application of medical concepts.

Flying the Babcock flag, the five-member team representing the Babcock University Association of Medical Students (BUAMS) comprised of Chinonyerem Okpechi, Olumobi Omoniyi, Okeke David Olisamelie, Owen Nzurum and Timothy Peter Umeti.

The Lagos State University Medical Students' Association (LASUMSA) took first place, followed by the Olabisi Onabanjo University Medical Students' Association (OOUMSA), with Babcock securing third position.

Beyond the podium finish, the achievement reflects the value of learning that challenges students to think critically, apply knowledge and measure their abilities against their peers.

Through its Benjamin S. Carson (Snr.) College of Health and Medical Sciences ably headed by Professor Adeola Fowotade, Babcock University continues to encourage academic excellence, collaborative learning and professional development, preparing future healthcare professionals to make meaningful contributions to the health sector.

The achievement reflects the value of a medical education that goes beyond classroom instruction, equipping students with the knowledge, critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to excel in their profession. It also advances Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by highlighting the importance of quality, skills-based learning in preparing competent future healthcare professionals.

Congratulations to our five medical scholars for making Babcock proud!
