Department of Hematology and Immunology

the department being affiliated to the Benjamin Carson Snr College of Health and Medical Sciences of the university plays a vital role in the teaching and training of medical students in the first year of their clinical training. Haematology and immunology being one of the foundational courses needed for excellent medical education. This is done through the means of formal lectures, practicals, seminars and tutorials.

The department provides diagnostic services via prompt analysis and reporting of human specimens specific to the haematology laboratory. These are carried out by qualified medical laboratory scientists with consultants giving clinical interpretations towards appropriate patients’ care. This is enhanced by the presence of modern equipments with tests results being validated by a full program of internal quality assurance measures. The laboratory comprises of three sections mainly routine haematology, serology and coagulation. Our major strength is the provision of safe blood and blood products.
