Babcock Entrepreneurship Week (BEW) 2026 Commences
- 05:00 AM
- BBS Auditorium A, Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State
The Babcock Entrepreneurship Week (BEW) 2026 officially begins today, March 29, and will run through April 3, 2026.
This annual week-long event is intentionally integrated into Babcock University’s academic calendar to celebrate creativity, innovation, and enterprise development across the university community.
A major highlight of BEW is the Grand Finale of the Babcock Innovation Challenge (BIC). Although BIC is a semesterly initiative of the Babcock Entrepreneurship Development Centre (BEDC), the second-semester edition is purposefully aligned with BEW to broaden its reach and deepen its impact.
Established with a clear mandate to nurture a vibrant startup culture on campus, BIC has over the years produced several promising startups offering practical, real-world solutions across diverse sectors. Each edition has also evolved in its thematic focus: from open-innovation ideas, to tech-enabled solutions, and now, for the 6th edition, to AI-powered innovations.
This year’s theme invites student innovators to explore Artificial Intelligence as a core component of their solutions, encouraging them to refine and elevate their ideas in alignment with global technological trends.
The role of industry experts remains a vital pillar of BIC. Judges and mentors have consistently contributed not only through evaluation but by guiding and supporting teams from ideation to implementation. This year, an additional layer of value has been added as past judges were invited by the student body to serve as startup advisors, strengthening the ecosystem of support available to participants.
For BIC 6.0, the Centre received 29 startup applications. After a detailed review by our panel of distinguished judges, the Top 10 startups have now been shortlisted to compete at the Grand Finale.
As tradition holds, the top three winning teams will receive seed grants:
- 1st Place – ₦1,000,000
- 2nd Place – ₦750,000
- 3rd Place – ₦500,000
