DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING

The objectives of this program are that; after graduation, the graduates will be able to:

1. Be effective in applying computer engineering principles in engineering practices
2. Have a productive career in the many diverse fields of computer engineering such as digital engineering, Software engineering, bioengineering, robotics engineering, security (Cybersecurity), communications, and embedded systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), or in the pursuit of graduate education in disciplines such as computer engineering, and other related engineering courses.
3. Be effective members of a professional team and bodies such as COREN and Nigerian Society of Engineers, displaying proficiency in computer engineering design, communications, and leadership of engineering teamwork skills.

1. A minimum of Credit level (C6) pass in at least 5 subjects, including English Language; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other one relevant subjects is also required in West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC); General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level (O’L) or equivalent, National Examinations Council (NECO), at not more than two sittings. It is also desirable for candidates to have Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing at credit levels. This will be an added advantage.
2. Acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). The subjects shall be Mathematics, physics, Chemistry and Use of English.
3. In addition, candidates with acceptable Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations (UTME) results will further be screened to ascertain suitability for admission into Babcock University.

Candidates with post-secondary qualifications may apply for admission into 200 level for the relevant undergraduate programmes.

1. Candidates must satisfy the 5 credits ‘O’ Level requirements in English Language; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other one relevant subjects is also required in West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC); General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level (O’L) or equivalent, National Examinations Council (NECO), at not more than two sittings.
2. Candidate must have passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at GCE ‘A’ level or its equivalent. Holders of National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) with minimum of upper credit level in appropriate Engineering Disciplines from recognized institutions by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) or foreign Institutions recognized by Federal Ministry of Education are eligible for consideration for admission into 200 Levels. Direct entry candidates must also satisfy the O’ Level and UTME requirements.

1. Before a student is qualified to graduate, he/she must offer and pass the minimum credit units specified in the programme. This includes the passing of all compulsory General Studies Courses, Entrepreneurship courses and the Industrial Training Courses.
2. Students admitted through the UTME mode shall have registered for a minimum of 150 and maximum of 180 units of courses during the 5–year engineering degree programme. Such candidates shall have spent a minimum of ten academic semesters.
3. Candidates admitted through the Direct Entry mode shall have registered for minimum of 120 and maximum of 150 units of courses during a 4–year engineering degree programme. Such candidates shall have spent a minimum of eight academic semesters.
4. The minimum and maximum credit load per semester is 15 and 24 credit units respectively.
