WELCOME MESSAGE

The quest for wisdom and knowledge is a laudable one and millions of people have sought after it over the years.  In fact, the wisest man who ever lived, Solomon, advised: ‘Incline your ear unto wisdom and apply your heart to understanding… then you shall understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God” (Pro. 2:2, 5).  Since the inception of the Pre-Degree Program in1999 till date, it has assisted hundreds of students to achieve their academic dreams in a healthy academic environment.  Mark Twain once advised that we should “keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.  Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”And according to Joseph Addison, “education is a companion which no misfortune can depress, no crime can destroy, no enemy can alienate, no despotism can enslave…”  In this program, you too, can be great, and realize that education can banish all the fears of a thousand nights.  Since others have succeeded, you too will succeed in spite of your present apparent limitations.  Welcome to the Pre-Degree Program and may God bless you in your quest for a comprehensive excellent education in Babcock University.

PRE-DEGREE PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
The Pre-degree program is aimed at preparing students for admission into the courses of their choice.  Admission into a chosen course of study at Babcock University through the Pre-degree is exclusively dependent on the candidate’s good performance at the Pre-degree program, the possession of an acceptable current JAMB score and possession of the basic 5 O’ Level credits relevant to the chosen of course.  Basically, the program will achieve the following important objectives:

1.  Assists and prepares students for admission into the various degree programs so long as such students present a fresh acceptable JAMB score.  This means that such students will not have to write the Post-UME of Babcock University before being accepted into 100L.


2. Previews and summarizes for students some of the courses they will be offering in their first year in school which will help them to have a handle on such courses when the time comes.  In fact, some of such courses will form part of the core subjects for the different schools – BSS, EAH, SAT, LSS etc.


3. Prepares students who will want to apply to other Universities for those courses which are not offered in Babcock University.


4. Finally, the program offers students a very congenial platform of getting used to Babcock University’s life and culture so as to help such students have a smooth transition and integration into the degree program without any hassles.
